Microneedling uses the process of Collagen Induction Therapy to promote healing and natural collagen reproduction, by creating micro injuries in the skin stimulating the body's natural healing process. During a Microneedling treatment, tiny, precise micro-injuries are made in the skin at a professional depth to induce the skin’s natural repair process. This repair process begins almost immediately. Topical products such as hyaluronic acid and other professional skin products can then be applied to the skin and will be absorbed into the deeper layers through the micro-channels created during the micro-needling process. WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?
We use a handheld mechanical pen that holds tiny sterile 12-needle cartridges. The pen is moved across your skin, while the tiny needles pierce the skin at pre-determined depths. This process only takes 30 minutes. Immediately after the treatment your skin may feel warm and tight and you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The best part is that the downtime is as little as 24-72 hours.
IS IT PAINFUL?
Typically, micro needling is a little uncomfortable with depths needed for wrinkles and scar revision, but this is managed easily with a topical numbing agent placed on the skin prior to treatment. The sensation ranges from the pressure and vibration of an electric toothbrush to brushing sandpaper across the skin. We like our clients to apply numbing cream to the skin 30-60 mins before treatment.
HOW QUICKLY DOES IT WORK?
You will start to see visible changes over the course of several days up to a few weeks after just a single treatment. After about a month you will begin to notice an increase of collagen and elastin in the skin that continues for up to 6-12 months. We like to call it the gift that keeps on giving. It is recommended that clients receive 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. For clients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks, or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 treatments at 4-6 week intervals. After you have finished a regular series of treatments, maintenance treatments are encourgaged. Unfortunately, the aging process never ends!!!
HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM AT-HOME DERMA ROLLERS?
At-home rolling methods enter the skin at very shallow depths providing minimal improvement. The roller version also creates a curved insertion point into the skin causing unnecessary trauma and risk of cross-infection.
